THG Thankful Thursday
This Thursday THG is thankful that September is Missouri Wine Month. Missouri wines are becoming more and more popular in recent years. Vineyards in Missouri aren’t just producing the typical sweet wines from the area, they are experimenting with different varietals for delicious new wines. Missouri produces several different types of grapes and has vineyards all over the state. You can find local wineries all over Kansas City, Weston and across state line. Travel south a bit and you can visit the quaint town of Hermann, Missouri. Founded in 1842 tucked away in the Missouri River Valley, Hermann is a picturebook village where 19th century brick buildings hug the sidewalk, as they do in Germany. Hermann is a perfect destination for wine lovers in the mid-west with numerous wineries, a brewery and an amazing German market. If you do some research you will see that there are probably several great options for wineries within an hour of where you live. And if you are local in Kansas City there are dozens of wineries in different and unique settings all around the city.
Here a few different Missouri grape varieties and some of their characteristics:
We hope you enjoy celebrating Missouri Wine Month and drink lots MO wine this September #MoWineMonth
